Dear YMCA of the Foothills Family, Before you read the body of my monthly newsletter, I wanted to share something that has been on my heart for the last couple of weeks. I am constantly reminded how fortunate we are to live in a community, and country, that is safe and allows us each to reach our full potential. Sadly, that is not the case around the world—especially for our family and loved ones in Artsakh and Armenia during the latest military aggression in the region from Azerbaijan. Our hearts are collectively broken as we see photos and news from the region where families must survive through the daily reality of war. In times like these I am emboldened by our Y mission and work to help enrich and serve the lives of others—whether here in the foothills or abroad. I ask to keep those of the Armenian diaspora living here in the Foothills and the brave souls living through this senseless violence in Artsakh and Armenia at the top of our mind and deep in our hearts.
With a grateful heart — Autumn is officially here! I know our family squeezed every drop that we could out of summer. In September, we visited one of our favorite spots on the Central Coast – Lopez Lake
Campground in San Luis Obispo County for a much overdue camping trip which helped to “fill up” our wellness cup. I hope you also had a chance to enjoy an activity, trip, or experience that highlighted National Self Care Awareness Month.
