Hello, YMCA of the Foothills Family!
Happy July 1st, we are officially halfway through 2024! Today is a special date for our family as we collectively celebrate entering my 5th year as CEO of the YMCA of the Foothills. The past four years have brought significant challenges and meaningful success, personal tragedy and timely triumph, and plenty of learnings and opportunities for growth. It has been such an honor and privilege to serve this community and this Y in this role; I have loved each day of my time as your CEO. Our Y has accomplished a lot in the past four years. I thank our Board of Directors, our Leadership Staff, and our countless Volunteers for their incredible contributions to support the Y Mission in enriching the lives of all people spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially.
I hope your summer season is off to a healthy and enjoyable start. Kelly, the kids, and I are off to spend the Fourth of July camping at Lopez Lake in San Luis Obispo County. We have day trips planned to Avila Valley Barn to feed goats, chickens, and alpacas and maybe fit in a hayride, Avila Beach (our favorite little beach on the central coast, which has a charming beachfront boardwalk), Heritage Square Park in Arroyo Grande for the Fourth of July and our favorite little winery in the area, Kelsey See Canyon Vineyards.
This annual trip always allows our family to relax, disconnect from technology, and reconnect with our camping friends. The Central Coast holds a special place in our hearts, and it’s a trip that I encourage you all to take at some point.
If you still haven’t made any summer plans, the Y has you covered! There are three different summer day camp locations, each offering a unique and exciting experience. We also have swim lessons, small group training, and a whole host of healthy lifestyle programming available. Visit our website at www.ymcafoothills.org for a complete list of summer options.
Wishing you and yours a safe and enjoyable July.
Onward and Upward!
