DECEMBER 2023

Hello, YMCA of the Foothills Family!

I hope you and your family enjoyed the collective blessings you have in life and could thank those around you for their love and support throughout the year. My family and I are truly grateful for your membership and program participation at our Y. It means the world to us, and during this season of giving thanks, we wanted to thank you for all you do to help support the Y.

I think we have found a new Iuculano Family Tradition for Thanksgiving. This year, we spent a few days camping in San Diego with my in-laws for the Thanksgiving holiday. We enjoyed a hike to Annie’s Canyon at San Elijo Lagoon, a day trip to Coronado Beach, a big Thanksgiving Dinner, and plenty of laughs. We are already planning our return trip for 2024!

As we look back on 2023, it’s important to acknowledge the amazing work of our Board of Directors, Staff, and Volunteers that helped us deliver the Y mission to as many people as possible. Their leadership is the cornerstone of the culture we have created: one that is firmly established in love, understanding, and opportunity for ALL people. Since January of this year, our Y has been called to meet the needs of our ever-changing communities, and this year, we have had over 629,000 meaningful interactions with our community. That’s more than 1,700 interactions every day of the year through membership check-ins, program participation, community outreach, and services!

This year, we have raised $196,163, which helps to support our mission and impact in our community. We have been able to give $30,220 in Childcare Assistance, helping to support 59 children. We have contributed $148,954 toward membership assistance, allowing us to support 698 units. Our safety around water program continues to be free to the community, providing vital water safety skills to 39 participants. Lastly, we gave $23,729 in support of Day Camp and Resident Camp, giving opportunity to over 67 campers and leaders.

We strengthened our organizational strategies to build a better future for all people in 2023 as our Y continued to innovate our approach to meet the needs of our community. Our core beliefs were rooted deeper in service to Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. Simply put, we love and care deeply for our community and are thankful you are part of it. On behalf of our Board of Directors and Our Staff, I want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and the happiest and healthiest Holiday Season. Onward and Upward!
