AUGUST 2024

Hello, YMCA of the Foothills Family!

Greetings from Lake Tahoe and Camp Richardson! My family and I are enjoying a little camping trip ahead of the new school year in one of our favorite places on earth: Lake Tahoe. We will spend the week swimming in the lake, taking a few hikes, and maybe even catching a glimpse of a black bear. It is such a blessing to spend the last week of summer in nature as a family.

August is National Wellness Month, dedicated to promoting self-care practices that reduce stress and worry. Your Y is placing itself at the cutting edge of “Communal Well-being” as we look to provide additional pathways to a person’s spiritual, mental, social, and physical health. We offer initiatives for health seekers through innovative and “non-traditional” programs and services like our Adaptive Aquatics Program, our LCUSD and GUSD wellness program, free community group exercise programs at Memorial Park, and our Chaplain Program. We know holistic health and well-being come in all forms and fashions. As an organization dedicated to healthy living, we will continue to pour resources and passion into this vital work.

Our Y had an incredibly impactful month of July as we focused on Youth Development and Summer Camp. Here are some of the highlights:

As summer ends and we prepare to return to school and work, I want to extend our best wishes for health and happiness in August. We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Y.

Onward and Upward!
