April 2022

The month of April is steeped in cultural and religious significance to countless people living in the foothill communities, as it is a month for celebrating rebirth, new beginnings and second chances. This year the Abrahamic Religions of Judaism, Christianity and Islam celebrate the start of Passover, Easter and Ramadan in the month of April. We are blessed to live in a community that celebrates and appreciates all traditions and belief structures, which makes the month of April such a special time of year for the Y. The Y was founded with the core beliefs of caring, honesty, respect, inclusion and responsibility, which lives on in our mission statement to this day.

April is also a time to celebrate giving back and healthy living with two of my favorite YMCA traditions: Annual Support Campaign and Healthy Kids Day.

On April 1st, our Y will be kicking off our 64th Annual Support Campaign which goes to fund our mission advancement, community outreach and scholarship program for the most under resourced members of our service area. This program is the life-blood of our charitable outreach which provides pathways to access for all in need. If you would like to donate, volunteer, or both to this year’s Annual Support Campaign please visit ymcafoothills.org/donate-now or contact Joanne Pingry at jpingry@ymcafoothills.org to get involved.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Healthy Kids Day, an annual event that elevates the health and well-being of kids and families at YMCA’s nationwide and their communities. Our Y will engage in this one-day celebration on April 30th at the CV Hometown Country Fair with fun activities including a gaga ball pit, giveaways and summer camp promotions.
