We have collected 104 units of blood since 2020, saving the lives of up to 260 people!

Caregiving for someone with dementia can be buoyed by knowledge and a community of support.
The YMCA of the Foothills is partnering with the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital's Community Resource Center for Aging and Alzheimer's Los Angeles to provide some respite for those caring for people with early to mid-stage dementia.​
​
Event Activities:
The evening offers a time for caregivers, with or without their persons with dementia, to enjoy dinner, conversation, connection with other caregivers, and activities such as a good game of Bingo! We provide information, resources, and support to (and among) caregivers.

Dementia and Memory Care
In partnership with USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, the YMCA of the Foothills will host a monthly Doc Talk series that will present a variety of health-related topics to community members throughout the year.
The lectures are available for in-person attendance or virtual attendance via Zoom.

We will have box lunches for takeaway at the end of the talk for our in-person attendees. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and the talk will begin promptly at 12 p.m. Reservations for takeaway box lunches are required 48 hours in advance. Dr. Artin Minaeian
Artin Minaeian, M.D., a board-certified general and vascular neurologist, received his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine. He completed his training at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, a general neurology residency at New York Medical College, and a vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Massachusetts. Dr. Minaeian provides services to patients with neurological disorders such as stroke, headache, seizure disorder, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's and other degenerative disorders, Alzheimer's and other dementia, nerve and muscle disorders, sleep disorders, and traumatic brain injury.

This class is for anyone who wants to learn or is required to be trained and certified in Adult First Aid, CPR, and use of AED for adults, children, and infants.
HSI Adult First Aid, CPR and AED for all ages (adult, child, and infant):
The goal of the Health & Safety Institute Adult First Aid CPR AED training program is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in Adult First Aid, CPR and AED for adult, child, and infant.

This blended learning program includes flexible instructional tools for developing proficiency via demonstration and prompted practice, including scenario-based problem-solving exercises with feedback.
HSI First Aid | CPR AED reflects the latest resuscitation science and treatment recommendations published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), and it conforms with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the annual Guidelines Update.
We will not be offering any community CPR classes until further notice.
