Memorial Scholarship
In Remembrance of Colin
Alongside the Jacobs Family, the YMCA of the Foothills has established the Colin Andrew Jacobs Memorial Scholarship which will be used to help send youth and teens to a week at Camp Bear in Big Bear Lake. This scholarship is in place to reach youth and teens across the Foothills community who are under-resourced and underserved.
Colin had a long history with the Y, starting as a camper and youth program participant.
As a teenager, Colin worked as a youth swim lesson instructor and was also selected as a volunteer resident camp counselor at Camp Fox and as a tree lot volunteer. As an adult, Colin worked for the Y as a summer camp counselor and donated his time in Youth Development.
“Draco,” as he was affectionately called by campers and fellow counselors alike, was loved by all who knew him. His positive impact on the youth and teens of our community will be his legacy, which will carry on by way of this scholarship.
